The form of present perfect tense is ‘have’/’has’ + past participle of the verb.  Some verbs change their spelling to form the past participle. e.g. study >> studied. Plan >> planned.

Please go here to see spelling changes in the past simple and past participle of regular verbs.

Some verbs are completely irregular, and they change completely in the past participle. Buy >> bought etc. For a list of some common irregular verbs, please go here.

For regular verbs we just add ‘ed’ to the verb to create the past participle.
